NAFN Data and Intelligence Services provides its website service https://www.nafn.gov.uk/ to you subject to the following Terms of Use which may be changed or updated by NAFN at any time without notice. Please read the Terms of Use carefully before using this website; you must not continue to use the website if you do not agree to these terms. Please also check the Terms of Use periodically for changes.
When using certain services on this site, you shall also be subject to any terms, rules or guidelines applicable to those services in addition to the Terms of Use contained herein. Such additional terms will be posted on the pages relating to the service to which they apply.
NAFN provides access to a range of information and services (content) including a discussion forum, database, online enquiries, news, links and more. You acknowledge and agree that this content is provided ‘as is’ with no warranties whatsoever, express or implied, and that NAFN assumes no responsibility for the timeliness, accuracy, security or reliability of any content provided on this site.
These website terms supplement (and are in addition to) the terms of our privacy policy. Our privacy policy explains what personal information we collect about you, why and how it is collected, processed and stored when using this website and NAFN services. Note that by continuing to use this website you have agreed to the terms of use and fully read understood our privacy policy in its entirety.
Access to the members-only area of this web site is restricted. In order to gain access to this area of the site a user must first complete the registration form. During registration a user is required to give their contact information (including their full name, job title, e-mail address, telephone number, fax number, organisation type, organisation name, and department). It is optional for the user to provide the name of their authorising officer. This information is stored in a secure database and will be used for several purposes including:
- Authenticating a user’s access rights to restricted areas of the website
- Identifying and recording the use of interactive site features for example, the Discussion Forum, Sanction Information Database, National Register of Taxi Licence Revocations and Refusals, E-learning system for continuing professional development and record of achievement
- Processing enquiries/transactions
- Providing default (auto-completed) values in form fields
- Contacting the user to facilitate data sharing between member organisations
When a user attempts to log-in to the member’s area of the website certain information is recorded including their IP address, username, browser type, and the date/time. This information is recorded for security reasons and used for statistical and monitoring purposes.
Once the registration process has been completed successfully you are permitted to access the member’s area of the site. In order to access this area you are required to input a username, password, pin code and additional security authentication.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and account and any activities that occur under your account. NAFN is not liable to any person for any loss or damage which may arise as a result of your failure to protect your password or account. You agree to:
- never share the details of your four factor authentication
- notify NAFN immediately of any potential unauthorised use of your password or account or any other breach of security using the CONTACT US online form.
- ensure that you exit from your account at the end of each session using the log-out function provided
NAFN will not be liable for any claim relating to a breach of security arising from your failure to comply with these terms.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, NAFN disclaims all representations and warranties express or implied, that content or information displayed in or on this website is accurate, complete, up to date and/or does not infringe the rights of any third party. The views expressed in user generated content are the opinions of those users and do not represent the views or opinions of NAFN.
You agree to indemnify and hold NAFN including its officers and employees harmless from any claim or demand arising out of content that you submit, upload, post, e-mail or otherwise transmit through the site, or your use of the content available on the site. You acknowledge that information can be freely posted or submitted to NAFN via this secure site, but that NAFN reserves the right to refuse, move or remove any content at any time without notice. You agree that you must evaluate and bear all risks associated with the use of any content including the reliance on the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of such content.

This website may contain other proprietary notices and copyright information the terms of which must be observed and followed. NAFN retains the copyright for all original content on this site.
NAFN reserves the right to modify or discontinue all or any part of the information and/or services provided on the site at any time with or without prior notice. You agree that NAFN shall not be liable for any loss you may incur as a result of the modification, suspension or discontinuance of the web site.
Membership is open to all local authorities in Great Britain and Northern Ireland as well as other organisations managing public funds. Associate membership is open to organisations such as government organisations, private registered providers of social housing (housing associations) and other non-government agencies.
Terms and conditions of membership are contained in the NAFN Membership Agreement which is approved by the Executive Board and ratified by the members.
On signing the Membership Agreement an organisation becomes a member of NAFN. Every member organisation, including those who enter into a ‘shared service agreement’ with other local authorities or organisations, is expected to pay the annual fee by 30 April in each year.
Many of our pages contain links to sites operated by third parties. The content on these sites are not under our control. If you have any questions concerning these sites and the usage of them we suggest that you contact the webmaster of the site directly.
You expressly acknowledge and agree that your use of this website is at your sole risk and that NAFN shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages for any losses resulting from the use or inability to use the web site, or unauthorised access to or alterations of any transmissions or data.
